Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Sitka investigated the death of two dogs that were suspected of being poisoned on Wednesday of last week.
The week-long investigation by Wildlife Troopers resulted in an summons being issued to 31-year-old Sitka resident Kevin Taranoff on Wednesday, October 23 on Misdemeanor charges of Attempting to Take Brown Bears by Use of Poison.
The investigation into the incident took troopers to the Sea Mountain Golf Course, four miles from downtown Sitka near Granite Creek, where it was found that Taranoff, who was an employee there, had laced food with anti-freeze and placed it out for bears that have been coming to the golf Course. The investigation found that Taranoff had acted alone without the knowledge of fellow employees or the owners of the Golf Course.
