On Sunday afternoon at 3:53 pm, a report went in to the Alaska State Troopers of an accident involving two vehicles near mile 186.6 of the parks Highway.
When troopers responded to the scene they found that the drivers of both vehicles had died at the scene. They were pronounced deceased by Emergency Medical Personnel.

The initial investigation into the accident found that 57-year-old Fairbanks resident Roy Ponder, while driving northbound in a 2008 Ford F-450, and towing a trailer with two snow machines, collided near head-on with 57-year-old Palmer resident David Kincaid’s 2007 Fork Pickup as he was headed southbound.
In Kincaid’s vehicle, was his daughter 24-year-old Molly Kincaid. Molly suffered non-life threatening injuries. She was taken by a Trapper Creek ambulance to a Wasilla hospital.
Roy Ponder’s wife and passenger, 55-year-old Teresa Ponder, also suffered non-life threatening injuries. A Cantwell ambulance transported her to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours after the incident as the investigation of the accident took place.
Next of kin for both drivers were notified.
