At approximately 9:58 pm on Thursday night, the driver of a 1999 Suburu Legacy lost control of the vehicle and rolled near milepost 100 of the Parks Highway, trapping the occupants in the vehicle.
An Alaska State Trooper on patrol along the highway observed the incident and responded to the vehicle. His efforts to extricate the trapped driver and passenger was successful. The trooper also dispatched EMS to the scene to care for the injured occupants.
The driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Palmer resident Calli-Dawn Grimmett, was airlifted by LifeMed helicopter and flown to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer for non-life threatening injuries. The passenger, 43-year-old Palmer resident, Leon Kitagawa, was transported by ambulance to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment of a shoulder injury.
The driver of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, the passenger was not.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
