Trooper Struck while Directing Traffic at Delta Junction Parade

ASTpatch_New copy copyTrooper dispatch reports that Trooper Mau with the Alaska State Troopers was struck by a vehicle in Delta Junction on Saturday during the festivities there.

According to the report, Trooper Mau was directing traffic at the intersection of Rapids Street on the Richardson Highway for the Delta Fair Parade, when a motorist,  identified as 62-year-old Debra Darland of Delta Junction, pulled into the oncoming lane of traffic. As Darland passed up the vehicles stopped at the intersection, Trooper Mau motioned for Darland to stop, as he did so, he was struck by Darland’s vehicle.

As a result of the incident, Darland was placed under arrest by Trooper Mau. Darland was charged with Assault III, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer II. She was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
