A call went in to the Alaska State Troopers on Tuesday morning at 9 am reporting an assault aboard the fishing vessel "Oceana Kaylani."
According to the trooper dispatch, two 22-year-old Pennsylvanian crewmembers aboard the vessel reported being assaulted by the “Oceana Kaylani’s” skipper 56-year-old Michael Clemens of Nevada. According to the crewmembers, Clemens was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident. The vessel was taking part in the commercial salmon fishery off of Cape Chiniak at the time of the alleged assaults.

After the assaults, the two crewmembers and the third crewmember on the vessel escaped from the boat by taking the seine skiff. They drove the seine skiff to Kodiak where they reported the incident.
At 10:55 am. Clemens arrived back to Kodiak and entered the Saint Paul Harbor. When he arrived, Alaska State Troopers contacted him there. Clemens was arrested for two counts of domestic violence assault IV, as well as boating under the influence of alcohol.
Clemens was transported to the Kodiak Jail where he was remanded on no bail pending his arraignment. He appeared in court on Wednesday at 11:30 am, his next court appearance is scheduled for September 9, 2013.
