A Kasilof man is in custody with no bail after a foot chase with Alaska State Troopers last night.
57-year-old Kasilof resident Dennis Poston was apprehended after AST responded to the scene of an accident on Monday night at 8:14 pm on Cardwell Road.
It was determined that as 50-year-old Jaqueline Dederick was traveling in her 2014 Hyundai SUV on Cardwell Road when she was struck by a 1994 Ford pickup truck. The truck, driven by Poston, fled the scene after the accident.
Troopers would later locate the pickup, when pulled over, Poston fled the scne on foot. Troopers gave chase and apprehended him along the treeline next to the highway.
When caught, Poston would provide the troopers with a false name. Troopers would find that Poston was driving under the influence of alcohol. Once correctly identified, it would be found that Poston was to have an Ignition Interlock Device installed in any vehicle he was operating. There was no such device installed in the pickup. Poston would also be found to be operating the vehicle with a revoked license.
When arrested, Poston also refused to provide a breath sample as required.
Poston was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility and remanded there with no bail set.
Poston was charged with DUI, Refusal, DWLR, No IID Device, False Information, Leaving the Scene of a Damage Collision, and No Vehicle Insurance.
Poston’s vehicle was impounded at the scene.
