In the early morning hours of Saturday, at 1:48 am, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of shots fired at a Wasilla residence.
The troopers arrived to the scene at 1:52 am to find two individuals who had suffered gunshot wounds.
The woman, now identified as 25-year-old Chelsi Baun of Colorado, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. The male, identified as 26-year-old Tobias Siegel of Wasilla, was transported to the Mat-Su Regional hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation of the incident by the troopers has determined that the shootings were a murder/suicide. The two individuals involved were not married , but instead were reccent acquaintances. It appeared that the male, Siegel, shot Baun before turning the gun on himself. No motive was eviddent but it appears that alcohol was a factor in the deaths.
Both bodies have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
