Alaska State Troopers say that they have developed a suspect in the June 5th double homicide and arson that occurred at 7350 West Coal Road near Wasilla. Killed in that incident were 30-year-old Crystal Denardi and 43-year-old Ben Gross.

That suspect, who remains un-named, is currently in custody on unrelated federal charges, and charges in the double murder have yet to be filed troopers report. The troopers have been working with federal authorities that include ATF, DEA, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the continuing investigation.

A third person was also injured by a gunshot in the incident, it was that person who called in to troopers on June 5th. He was treated for his wound and released.

When troopers initially responded to the address to investigate the report, they would find the detached garage on the property ablaze. It was the second fire on the property in six months. In February, the main house on the property burned to the ground. The cause of the earlier fire was never determined.

Ironically, Denardi studied forensic science in college. Gross was a commercial fisherman who had moved up from Petersburg, where he was the skipper of the F/V Martina. The relationship between Gross and Denardi has yet to be determined.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
