Troopers opened an investigation into a stolen gray 2001 Toyota Camry after responding to a Holiday service station at mile 49 of the Parks Highway at 4:25 pm on Sunday.
When they arrived at the scene, troopers were informed that the vehicle had been stolen at the station by a male and female approximately 30 years of age. It was reported that when the vehicle departed from the service station, it headed southbound on the highway.
A short time later, one of the victim’s cell phone was located on the highway near Pittman Road.
At 10 pm that same night, troopers were called to the Wasilla Fishhook Foodmart for a disturbance call involving the owners of the stolen Camry and the suspects.
When troopers responded to the scene, they would find that the suspects had already fled. The stolen vehicle was turned over to the owners.
Troopers would find that the car thieves had removed the license plates from the vehicle and had replaced them with plates from out of state.
Troopers say that they have generated suspects in the incident, but are asking the public to come forward with additional information in the theft by calling 745-3333.
