Troopers Seek One after New Years Eve Traffic Stop

trooperarrestAt 7:13 pm on New Years Eve, Alaska State Troopers in Wasilla performed a traffic stop on a 2002 Saturn sedan for equipment violations on Copper Creek Road. During the traffic stop, the trooper observed a passenger in the vehicle attempting to ingest drug paraphernalia.

When the trooper ordered the passenger, identified as 27-year-old Geoffery Hansen, to desist, he failed to comply, forcefully resisted arrest, and injured the trooper. Hansen was subsequently arrested for Assault IV, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct. He was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with his bail set at $2,500.

During that same traffic stop, another passenger in the vehicle, it would later be found, gave the trooper false information as to his identity. That passenger, Willie Boepple, age 25 of Wasilla was released from the scene after the driver of the vehicle, 23-year-old David Buben, helped Boepple to conceal his true identity.

When Boepple’s true identity was determined, it would be revealed that he was on probation for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV and also had a $5,000 outstanding arrest warrant issued in his name.

On January 3rd, troopers contacted Buben at his residence and arrested him on charges of Hindering Prosecution I. A further investigation into Buben’s past would find that he had recently been arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV and was subject to conditions of release, of which he was in violation of, and so that charge was also leveled at Buben.

Troopers are continuing the investigation and are currently seeking the whereabouts of Boepple. They ask that anyone with information to please call the AST at 352-5401 or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
