On Wednesday evening Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance at Char Court in Homer. The caller reported shots fired.
A short time later, troopers arrived at the scene. They were challenged by an intoxicated individual who began yelling at the troopers and made reference to a .44 caliber handgun.
Troopers report that as they were “establishing a perimeter the individual fired several shots from a .44 caliber handgun.”

Members of the Southern SERT (Special Emergency Reaction Team) and crisis negotiators from Soldotna were called in to assist. SERT brought with them a BearCat armored tactical response vehicle.
When SERT arrived, they were able to use the BearCat to approach and make contact with the individual, now identifed as 39-year-old Homer resident Timothy Magee.
Subsequent to that contact, Magee surrendered without further incident.
Magee was arrested and charged with Assault III x2 and Misconduct Involving Weapons IV.
Magee was transported and remanded to the Homer Jail.
The Bear Tactical Response vehicles manufactured by Lenco are new acquisitions to the Alaska State Trooper’s arsenal. Troopers took possession of three of the vehicles, priced at $286,000 each earlier this year. One each was stationed at Palmer, Fairbanks and Soldotna.
