Two Robbery Suspects Arrested after Victim’s Cellphone Rats Them Out

image15-12-2015-10.45.04Two men were arrested on Robbery charges following an incident of a robbery at gunpoint in Eagle River on Tuesday evening.

The victim called in and reported that they had been robbed at gunpoint in front of a residence on Mercy Drive in Eagle River just before 8 pm on Tuesday evening.

The victim reported that suspects in two SUVs saw the victim drawing out money from an ATM at an Eagle River gas station, the suspects followed the victim to the residence, where they proceeded to hold them up at gunpoint.

The suspects took the victim’s cellphone away to frustrate reporting attempts. But, the victim was able to track their cellphone location, and Anchorage police were able to make contact with the suspect vehicles at the Tesoro gas station at 545 Muldoon Road.[xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]Police opened a preliminary investigation and questioned the occupants of the two SUVs, who they identified as 27-year-old Kyon Watson and 23-year-old Carlton Tarkington. Following the investigation both Tarkington and Watson were placed under arrest on charges of Robbery I.

Watson and Tarkington were remanded to the Anchorage Jail where each suspect’s  bail was set at $25,000 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
