A call went in to the Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point during the early morning hours of Saturday reporting a vehicle accident with a fire and a trapped driver, according to the trooper dispatch.
At 2:59 am, a caller reported that a vehicle had wrecked and rolled on the Sterling Highway near Ninilchik. The caller reported that the vehicle was ablaze and the driver was trapped inside.
Prior to the arrival of the troopers, the caller extricated the trapped driver, identified as 20-year-old Kasilof resident Francisco Brownnavarro, from the white Chevy Cobalt he was driving.
Ninilchik Fire responded and extinguished the fire. Brownnavarro was transported by Ninilchik EMS to the Central Peninsula Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The vehicle was towed from the area.
Troopers are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
