Wandering Child and Dog Located after Search by AST, AWT, EMS, Utilizing Reverse Notify on Kenai Peninsula

A three-year-old boy and his dog were successfully located after an hour and a half search in the Sterling area on Saturday morning.

Troopers in Soldotna were notified of a missing three-year-old child and is dog at 7:58 am on Saturday morning off of Chas Ross Road near Sterling AST reported on the trooper dispatch.

AST, AWT, State Park personnel, EMS and local citizens took up the search for the missing boy. The Soldotna Public Safety Communications Center also initiated the “Rapid Notify,” which is a reverse 911 to notify residents in the area.

The search ended an hour and a half later, when the young hiker and his canine were located approximately a mile away from where he was reported missing.

After being assessed by Central Emergency personnel, the toddler was returned to his parents.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
