Alaska State Troopers pursued a fleeing pickup truck down Trunk and Bogard Roads on Monday, until the chase ended in a crash near Green Forest Drive during the early morning hours.
Troopers observed a maroon 1998 Chevy pickup speeding while traveling eastbound on Trunk Road at 3:15 am Monday morning. As troopers watched, the truck proceeded to run a red light almost colliding with another car at the intersection.
They attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle sped away from the officers. As troopers pursued, the chase exceeded 90 mph down Trunk Road. The pursuit then continued down Bogard Road where the driver of the truck recklessly ran another vehicle off of the road.
The chase didn’t end until the fleeing driver collided with trees at a residential driveway near Green Forest Drive. After he did so, the driver, later identified as 18-year-old Mackenzie V. Robinson, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
When Robinson fled, he went to his house. He would be arrested there a short time later. Robinson was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where he was remanded on charges of Felony Eluding and Reckless Driving and held on $5,000 cash bail.
