Just minutes after midnight on Christmas morning, Matcom Dispatch received a call from 60-year-old Willow resident Dona Carnahan, she was hysterical on the phone, and reporting that someone had taken a female from the residence.
Troopers immediately responded to the scene and attempted to make contact with Carnahan. But, Carnahan had left the residence in a vehicle.
Troopers attempted to make a traffic stop on Carnahan, but were unsuccessful. Officers would follow Carnahan for two miles down the highway. But, then unexpectedly, Carnahan swung her vehicle around and intentionally rammed the trooper vehicle following her head-on.
The trooper was not injured in the collision and Carnahan suffered only minor injuries. Both vehicles sustained serious damage.
An investigation into the incident would find that Carnahan was under the influence of alcohol. Troopers would also find that Carnahan had a shotgun in the vehicle with her at the time of the car chase.
Carnahan was arrested and charged with Assault III on a Police Officer, Eluding I, Criminal Mischief III, DUI, and Misconduct Involving Weapons IV. She was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.
The investigation into the incident is on-going.
