Alaska State Troopers with the assistance of the Bureau of Highway Patrol responded and pulled over a vehicle at mile 49 of the Parks Highway after receiving a call reporting the vehicle as REDDI. (Report Every Dangerous Vehicle Immediately)
After pulling the vehicle over, troopers contacted the driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Mallory Dahl of Anchorage. It was determined that Dahl was operating her vehicle while impaired and under the influence of a controlled substance. Dahl, who had her six-year-old son in the vehicle at the time, was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Dahl was arrested for DUI, Misconduct Involving controlled Substances and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Anchorage woman, Yvonne Insalaco, was also found to be in possession of an ounce of marijuana. She was issued a summons to appear in court at a later date and released from the scene.
Troopers contacted a family member, 59-year-old Yvonne Dahl, and made arraignments for her to take the six-year-old boy. When Y. Dahl arrived to pick up the child, it was found that she too was under the influence and also arrested on DUI charges.
The child was subsequently put in the custody of the Office of Children’s Services.
The two Dahls were jailed at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility. M. Dahl had her bail set at $4,000, while Y. Dahl had her bail set at $500.
