Early Sunday evening at about 5:24 pm, Alaska State Troopers responded to a two vehicle accident at mile 37 of the Glenn Highway.
When they arrived, an investigation of the accident revealed that while driving southbound on the Glenn Highway in a 1977 Dodge Pickup, Brandi Johnson, age 37, suffered the loss of a rear wheel and tire from her vehicle.

At the time that the tire and wheel detached itself from Johnson’s vehicle, 58-year-old Gloria Hunsuck of Palmer was traveling north-bound in her 2007 Volkswagon. The detached tire struck her vehicle. Hunsuck was transported to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The Anchorage woman, Johnson was cited for driving an unsafe vehicle.
Both drivers reported wearing their seatbelts. Hunsucks’s airbag deployed in the incident.
