After Night-Long Stand-Off Chugach Way Suspect Gives Up

Anchorage police report that a barricade situation has come to an end with the suspect, 52-year-old Allan B Hernandez, in custody seven hours after the police were alerted.

At 10:30 pm on Wednesday night, police received a report that a man in the Arctic Boulevard area was brandishing a firearm and pointing it at people in the roadway.

When officers arrived in the area, they would locate the suspect in a residence a short distance away on the 900-block of Chugach Way. When located, it was reported by APD that he was alone in the residence but would not come out.

SWAT was requested and responded to the situation. Police requested that the public avoid the area. The stand-off continued for several hours through the night and early morning hours. [xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]

During the operation, a drone was utilized and at just after 4 am gas was deployed. At 5:40 am, APD reported that Hernandez was in custody and shortly thereafter the police cleared the area and Chugach Way was re-opened to traffic.
