Alaska State Troopers are asking Kodiak residents to be vigilant of their surroundings after a bear was possibly shot and wounded in a subdivision in the city of Kodiak Tuesday morning.
Alaska Wildlife Troopers and ADF&G responded to the Woodland Acres subdivision in Kodiak this morning after being informed of a Kodiak Bear killing chickens. While on the scene, a resident of the area shot at and possibly wounded the marauding bear.
Authorities believe that the bear is in the area of Puffin Drive, Sharatin Road and the Spruce Cape area. But, they are not certain that the bear remained in that vicinity after being wounded and may now be located in a different location.
Troopers are requesting that anyone that sights the bear to call the troopers at 486-4121.
