Aleknagik Man Arrested on Charges Including Attempted Murder after Brief Stand-Off

sw-justiceRAWAn Aleknagik man is in custody and charged with Attempted Murder I, Assault III on a Law Enforcement Officer and Interfering with the Report of a Domestic Violence Crime after a brief stand-off in that community, it was reported by troopers on Wednesday.

The Dillingham-based Alaska State Troopers received a 911 call from Aleknagik at 5:20 pm on Tuesday reporting an armed assault by 51-year-old Aleknagik resident Robin Chythlook.

The Village Public Safety Officer in Aleknagik  responded to the scene and discovered that Chythlook had stabbed a family member multiple times. During contact, Chythlook “aimed a rifle at the VPSO,” but, after a brief stand-off, Chythlook was taken into custody, troopers reported.

Chythlook was arrested and charged with the three counts and transported to Dillingham where she was remanded to the Dillingham Jail.

The victim was taken to the Kanakanak Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

Troopers state that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.

Chythlook was the subject of a similar incident in November of 2015, when it was alleged in the media that Chythlook threatened a female family member with a knife at his birthday party at her apartment. A woman suffered a minor knife wound when she knocked the knife out of his hand and the two women pushed him out of the Forest View apartment in Dillingham. That case was eventually dismissed.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
