After an almost four hour stand-off, an Anchorage man at 905 Richardson Vista Road gave himself up to Anchorage police on Tuesday afternoon.

At 8:41 am on Tuesday, police were called out to 905 Richardson Vista after a complaint was called in reporting a loud altercation emanating from an apartment at that address on Government Hill. Callers reported that a man and woman were the subjects of the call. Witnesses also told police that the man had been making threats and waving a knife around.

When police arrived, the two subjects were barricaded in a bedroom of the apartment. Police would find no one else in the apartment.

Authorities closed off part of the parking lot to the apartment complex, but roads remained open.

Police initially could not make visual contact with the man and woman, and so could not determine if the woman had suffered injuries. At 12 noon, the woman emerged from the apartment. Although she had visible injuries, none were serious enough to merit transport to the hospital.

At 12:40, the man, now identified as 38-year-old Marcus J. Johnson emerged from the apartment bedroom and gave himself up. He was immediately taken into custody and charged with one count of Assault III and two counts of Assault IV.

Johnson was taken to the Anchorage jail where he was remanded on the charges.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
