Anchorage Man Indicted in 2018 Death of Six-Year-Old Boy

APD reports that after an investigation of a child’s death by homicide detectives a 32-year-old Anchorage man was indicted by an Anchorage Grand Jury on multiple charges that included Murder II last Friday.

Richard Vickery, who was the child’s caretaker at the time of the child’s death, was indicted on charges of Murder II, Manslaughter, and Criminal Negligent Homicide and a warrant was issued for Vickery’s arrest.

It was last summer, on June 12th, that APD responded to an address on the 5200-block of Taku Drive after receiving a report of a “child choking.” Upon arrival, CPR was administered while awaiting medic arrival. The six-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital but succumbed two days later.

Vickery turned himself into APD on Monday. He was remanded to the Anchorage Jail.
