Anchorage police located and impounded the suspect vehicle involved in July 2nd shooting between two vehicles at the intersection Dimond and Minnesota Drive after releasing surveillance imagery, showing that vehicle in an effort to elicit information from the public.

The APD investigation that was opened following the incident at 12:30 AM on July 2nd found that two vehicles, a white sedan, and a red SUV were traveling westbound on Dimond Boulevard and pulled up to the intersection with Minnesota Drive. At that time, the occupant or occupants of the white sedan opened fire and shot at the SUV several times, striking the driver multiple times in the upper and lower body.

Police were able to locate the driver of the SUV, an adult female, on the 8700 block of Flamingo Drive. She was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]

Police say there are indications that it was the vehicle that was targeted and the female victim was not the intended target. APD states that “It does not appear that there was any type of altercation between the suspect(s) and the victim prior to the shooting.”

During the investigation, the westbound lanes of the intersection of Dimond Boulevard and Minnesota Drive were shut down and traffic was diverted north on Minnesota.

No further information is being released at this time.
