On Wednesday night an encounter by a vehicle with a moose at mile 75.5 of the Richardson Highway proved fatal for the driver and the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Alaska State Troopers responded to a single vehicle accident on the Richardson Highway at 7:33 pm on Wednesday night and located a heavily damaged blue 2006 Acura in the tree off of the highway. The vehicle suffered extensive damage and the entire top of the the vehicle had been torn off.
The driver of the vehicle was found to have severe head trauma and was unresponsive, showing no signs of life when the troopers arrived. Nevertheless, and AST attempted resuscitation of the woman using an AED but was unsuccessful and the female occupant was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 pm.
The Bureau of Highwqay Patrol also responded to the scene and completed the investigation of the unfortunate incident. The remains of the unidentified woman was transported to the Crossroads Medical Center in Glennallen pending transport to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
The identity of the woman involved in thee accident has now been released. She is identified as 44-year-old Anchorage resident Andrea Lee Conley. Her next of kin has been notified.
