Driver, Passenger Jailed after Wasilla Moving Violation Stop

While on patrol on Settler’s Bay Drive in Wasilla, Alaska State Troopers performed a traffic stop on a 2000 Chevy Cavalier for a moving violation. That traffic stop would result in the driver and passenger being arrested and jailed.

Alaska State Troopers pulled over the Chevy on Thursday  morning and contacted the driver, 28-year-old Andrew Bates. The investigation on-scene would discover that Bates was on conditions of release for a prior Driving with License Revoked charge, and was violating those conditions.

Troopers also contacted the passenger in the vehicle and that passenger, it was found, had provided false information concerning her identity. Troopers would ascertain her true identity a short time later and positively identify her as 24-year-old Miranda Craig of Palmer. A quick records check would find that Craig had a Felony warrant issued for her arrest for a probation violation on the original cahrge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV.

Bates and his passenger, Craig were both arrested on charges and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility  and remanded there. Bates had his bail set at $1,000 and Craig’s bail was set at $2,500 plus a court approved third party custodian.

The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
