Statewide Drug Enforcement, Fairbanks Police and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Police conducted a raid and served search warrants on an apartment on Second Avenue on Friday in a drug investigation.
After service of the warrants and a search of the apartment, found to contain several different types of drugs that included substantial amounts of crack cocaine,marijuana,ecstasy, heroin, prescriptions and as yet unidentified other drugs, the two occupants of the apartment were arrested.
Charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance III, a class B Felony, were leveled at 22-year-old Edward Simmons and 21-year-old Ariston Nathaniel Thomas. According to court documents, the discovery of individually packaged drugs, weighing equipment, packaging materials and other items used in drug distribution was found in the apartment.
Drugs and evidence of drug dealing was found throughout the apartment.
Both men, who are currently unemployed, were found to have substantial amounts of cash on their person.
Simmons and Thomas were arraigned on the charges on Saturday. Both men are scheduled for preliminary hearings on February 18th.
