Eagle River Woman Arrested for Felony DUI above Homer

DUI_Patrol_02Anchor Point-based troopers received a notification of a REDDI vehicle on Diamond Ridge and West Hill above Homer on Saturday, According to troopers, the caller reported that the female driver of the small truck was “intoxicated and had driven into the ditch.”

The caller soon reported that the vehicle “had gotten out of the ditch and the caller lost sight of it.” This spurred Homer Police and troopers to begin a search for the vehicle, described as a 1988 Nissan truck.

Troopers would soon find the vehicle crashed near the intersection of Diamond Ridge and Katamar Road. Troopers contacted the driver and identified her as 26-year-old Sarah Kirk of Eagle River. Kirk was transported to the South Peninsula Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

After her release from the hospital, the trooper investigation determined that Kirk had been driving under the influence of alcohol. When arrested for DUI, troopers found that Kirk had been convicted of two prior DUIs within the previous ten years, making this latest DUI a felony.

Troopers also found Kirk to be driving with a revoked license and without an ignition interlock device installed in the vehicle. She was also found to be in violation of her felony probation for being out of the Anchorage area and consuming alcohol.

Kirk was transported and remanded to the Homer Jail on charges of Felony DUI, DWLR, DWLL, and felony probation violation and held without bail.
