Galena Woman Arrested for DUI, Leaving the Scene after Hitting Pedestrian

A Galena woman was charged with DUI and Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident on Sunday evening after hitting a pedestrian, trooper dispatch reports.

The ensuing trooper investigation would reveal that 63-year-old Galena woman Glenda Huntington was driving impaired on the Tiger Freeway in the small community, when she impacted head-on a pedestrian who ended up on her hood before falling to the ground. It was reported that Huntington exited her vehicle momentarily to observe the man, determined that he was all right, got back into her vehicle and left the scene.

The injured man was medevaced to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Huntington was later found at the bar in Galena. She was observed to be under the influence at that time, but failed to provide the responding trooper with a breath sample.

Huntington was arrested and charged with DUI and Leaving the scene of an Injury Accident. She was remnded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Huntington was arraigned on the charges on Tuesday afternoon.
