Alaska State Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers and the North Tongass Fire Department were notified of a residental fire at 6:02 pm on Friday.
Firefighters and authorities responded to the fire near mile 15 of the North Tongass Highway to find the interior of the house engulfed in flames.

The investigation of the fire would find that 34-year-old Ketchikan resident Scot Bartholomew had earlier assaulted a female who was a resident of the house and had caused her minor injuries.
The woman was able to flee the scene without further harm. After she had fled, Bartholomew set fire to the home.
Bartholomew was still at the scene when authorities arrived. He was arrested for Arson I, Assault III and Assault IV.
Bartholomew was transported and remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center without bail.
The State Fire Marshal continues to investigate the fire.
