Troopers responded to the area of Selief Lane for a disturbance call after receiving a report of an incident in a vehicle there late last week.
According to the trooper dispatch, 25-year-old Steven Henry of Kodiak was driving a Ford Escape belonging to a family member when he assaulted the family member who was a passenger in the vehicle.
The incident escalated when Henry intentionally damaged the windshield and the interior of the vehicle, causing approximately $2,000 worth of damage.
The family member in the vehicle, at that time, attempted to contact the police to report the incident, but Henry took the phone away from the victim and destroyed it. During this time, Henry was driving the vehicle erratically with a minor child aboard.
A short time later, the family member was able to escape the vehicle with the minor child.
Later, troopers would locate Henry, and it was found that he had tried to hide and dispose of evidence of the incident prior to contact with the troopers.
Subsequent to the incident, Henry was arrested on charges of Assault IV (DV), Criminal Mischief III (DV), Tampering wwith Physical Evidence, Reckless Endangerment, and Interfering with the Report of a Domestic Violence Crime.
Henry was transported to the Kodiak Jail where he was remanded without bail.
