On Tuesday, August 7th, at 12:54 pm, Alaska State Troopers received a call reporting a moose involved collision.

Troopers and the Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident.
Their investigation at the scene found that 36-year-old Michael Carlyle of Palmer was operating his 1991 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Fairview Loop, near Redoubt Drive, when he collided with a moose taht was entering the roadway.
The collision launched Carlyle several hundred feet according to reports. Despite wearing a helmet, Carlyle was killed in the incident, and pronounced dead at the scene.
The moose was killed by the impact as well.
The accient closed the road as officers investigated the scene. Traffic was diverted.
The State Medical Examiner’s office also responded to the scene.
Next of kin have been notified.
