An accident between a BMW motorcycle and a a Suzuki Grand Viatara sent the driver of the motorcycle to the hospital with injuries on Sunday afternoon according to trooper dispatch.
Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene of a motorcycle/car collision at 12:53 pm on Sunday.
After responding to the scene at mile 106.5 of the Seward Highway, the investigation revealed that while traveling southbound on the Seward Highway, 46-year-old Oklahoma resident Johnny Guyot slowed his Suzuki for a vehicle ahead that was making a left hand turn from the highway. Traveling behind on a BMW motorcycle was 73-year-old Anchorage resident Claus Schwarz. As Guyot slowed for the vehicle ahead, Schwarz slammed into the rear of Guyot’s vehicle, ejecting the 73-year-old man from the motorcycle.
Schwarz was transported to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. It was reported that Schwarz was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The motorcycle was deemed a total loss. The Suzuki sustained approximately $5,000 worth of damage.
The occupants of the Suzuki were not injured and reported wearing their seat belts.
