WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senator Lisa Murkowski on Wednesday announced she is promoting Taylor Thompson of Anchorage (West High School) to the position of Press Secretary in her Capitol Hill office. Thompson will fill the vacancy created by her predecessor Matthew Shuckerow (Dimond High School) departing to serve as Congressman Don Young’s Press Secretary.
“Taylor Thompson has worked in my office for a year and a half and brought energy and ideas to every responsibility she has been given – she will be a great asset to my communications team,” said Murkowski. “Matthew Shuckerow did a lot for my office and handled multiple duties with a smile and smarts and put his journalism degree to good use for my work; I look forward to seeing him continue to serve Alaska on the other side of Capitol Hill.”
Thompson was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska to a family of 10 avid hockey players. After graduating from West, she attended Gonzaga University in Washington State where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and was also a member of the women’s rowing team. As a member of the Murkowski office Thompson has worn many hats from Intern, Staff Assistant, Legislative Correspondent and Assistant to the Chief of Staff.
