Identified were 36-year-old Jackson Moore and 25-year-old Cherise James, both of Kasilof.

Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol-Girdwood Team, responded to the multiple-vehicle accident scene just north of Girdwood at mile 99 on the Seward Highway at approximately 7:08 PM.

The ensuing trooper investigation at the scene would find that Moore was traveling northbound near mile 99 of the highway, when he crossed the centerline into the oncoming southbound traffic. He narrowly missed a southbound 2003 Chevy Express Van when the driver of that vehicle 61-year-old Rodelo Susa, of Anchorage, swerved to miss the Subaru but then left the roadway.

But, after narrowly escaping a collision with the van, Jackson crashed head on-into a 2004 Jeep Liberty that was towing a boat, driven by Joshua Brandon Lacy, age 29, of Anchorage.  A passenger in the Jeep Liberty, 48-year-old Wendal Booth Jr, sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage for treatment.

Both Moore and James were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Next of kin are notified of the fatalities in the ongoing investigation.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
