One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Saturday Glenn Highway Collision

A Saturday afternoon head-on collision on the Glenn Highway took the life of one and seriously injured another, the trooper dispatch reports.

Troopers responded to the scene near Kepler Drive at mile 37 of the highway at 2:54 pm on Saturday. Their investigation found that 79-year-old Jack K. Watson of Oregon, was traveling northbound on the Glenn Highway in a 2002 Chevy Silverado towing a 1988 Suzuki Samuri, when he crossed over into the southbound lane of travel on the highway and collided head-on with 75-year-old Alfred W. Nyback of Eagle River in his 1996 Ford F-150.

As a result of the crash, Nyback was transported via LifeMed helicopter to Alaska Regional with serious injuries.

Watson was taken by ground ambulance to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment. Watson succumbed to his injuries there.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Next of kin have been notified of the incident.
