At 5:55 pm on Sunday, the Alaska State Troopers dispatch received a 911 call from the Duck Inn in Soldotna
The call came in reporting an overdose at the inn. Troopers arrived on the scene first before responding medics. Troopers found what was an apparently deceased man at the scene.

Medical attention was given to the man, who was identified as 27-year-old Soldotna resident Kyle Horsley. Responding medics were able to bring the overdose victim back and continued to give him medical attention as he was transported to the Central Peninsula Hospital for treatment of overdose.
Troopers at the scene conducted a criminal investigation. Troopers were able to ascertain that illegal narcotics were a contributing factor to the overdose, according to the dispatch. Items were seized as the investigation continued. The Alaska State Troopers anticipate that charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance will be forwarded to the Kenai District Attorney’s office.
There were no arrests made during the initial investigation that took place at the inn.
