At 10:42 am on Wednesday morning, Palmer Patrol Troopers were sent to a residence on Allison Court for a report of a Burglary in progress.
Troopers would arrive at the scene to find that the homeowner had subdued the burglar, identified as 26-year-old Palmer resident James Sweeney and was awaiting their arrival.
An investigation into the incident found that Sweeney was in the act of burglarizing the home when the homeowner returned to find him there. The homeowner confronted Sweeney, at which time, Sweeney fled the home. But, the homeowner would have none of it, the burglary victim managed to subdue the burglar as he tried to make his getaway with $2,000 worth of the man’s stuff.

The homeowner only sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Troopers arrested Sweeney and further investigation found that Sweeney was out on bail in another burglary and theft case.
Sweeney was arrested for Robbery in the Second Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Theft in the Second Degree, Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, and Violating Conditions of Release.
The foiled burglar was transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility and held on $30,000 bail plus a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
