It was about 6:10 pm in the evening of June 13th, that a Selawik teen fired one round from a shotgun through the window of a home before leaving the scene on foot.
A 25-year-old Selawik man was struck by one of the BBs from the shotgun blast inside the residence.

When 18-year-old Willard Dean Outwater fled the scene he took the shotgun that he had used and stashed the weapon before being located by the community’s VPSO. After a short foot pursuit, the teen was taken into custody.
Outwater, after being taken into custody, was charged with Misconduct Involving Weapons II, Assault III, and Tampering with Evidence. He was transported to Kotzebue and remanded to the Regional Jail there.
The 25-year-old gunshot victim was flown to Kotzebue and treated at the Manillaq Health Center for a non-life-threatening injury to his shoulder.
Outwater was arraigned on June 15 at the Kotzebue Courthouse.
