It was then that a Mercedes-Benz, driven by Delta Junction resident, 20-year-old Ivan Rybak, slammed into the SUV, ricocheting off and crossed the highway slamming into the trooper vehicle, which was parked on the the west-side of the highway with its emergency lights activated.

The impact caused the patrol vehicle to enter the ditch on that side of the highway. Trooper Mau, who was inside of his patrol vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was transported to  the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment.
