Alaska State Troopers a dual traffic stop on two vehicles involved in street racing on Saturday afternoon after one of the drivers nearly collided with a trooper.
Troopers pulled over a green 2005 Subaru driven by 34-year-old Wasilla resident Miles Walker and a red 1992 Honda driven by 38-year-old Wasilla resident Scott Parker at 5 pm on Saturday and issued them citations for racing on a roadway.
The trooper investigation showed that the two men were racing each other down Pittman Road on Saturday when Walker moved into the oncoming lane at a blind curve in the road. When he did so, he put himself directly in the path of an oncoming trooper. The trooper took evasive action to avoid a collision.
While Parker was given a citation for road racing, Walker was subsequently arrested for on an additional charge of reckless driving.
Walker was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there with his bail set at $500.
Troopers determined that alcohol was “a contributing factor in the incident,” according to the trooper dispatch.
