Troopers Investigate Homer Man’s Death in Sterling Highway Crash

image08-04-2015 09.03.54On Wednesday afternoon, minutes after receiving a report of a REDDI driver and as they were responding, a Homer driver drove off of the road and collided with the ditch in his 1998 GMC Sierra truck, trooper dispatch reports.

A call went in to the Alaska State Troopers based in Anchor Point at 3:57 pm on Wednesday afternoon, but before they could locate the vehicle, he collided with a ditch.

Responding EMS attempted to resuscitate the unresponsive driver, identified as 79-year-old Homer resident, Bradley Dickey, but were ultimately unsuccessful and Dickey was declared deceased at the scene.

The State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage were notified of the incident and requested Dickey’s remains for autopsy.

Dickey’s next of kin were notified of his passing.

The troopers are continuing their investigation as to the exact cause of the incident.
