Alaska State Troopers report that they responded to a single vehicle roll-over on the Richardson Highway on Thursday evening at 10:24 pm, they reported that the driver, identified as 26-year-old Nils Theisen, had left the scene with a person or persons unknown before troopers arrived.
The trooper investigation at the scene showed that Theisen had lost control and left the roadway while traveling northbound at mile 266 of the Richardson Highway in a 2012 Toyota Tundra. Troopers say that Theisen traveled approximately 500 feet in the northbound ditch before ramming into a telephone pole, snapping it in half.
The vehicle “overturned numerous times before coming to rest 761 feet after leaving the roadway initially. The vehicle was totaled,” troopers report. A witness at the scene said that Theisen was bleeding, but otherwise uninjured and had refused medical attention.
