Tununak man Arrested for Attempted Murder after Thursday Shooting Incident

Alaska State Troopers have arrested a Tununak man on charges of Attempted Murder in that community following a Thursday afternoon incident, troopers reported on the trooper dispatch.

Troopers responded to the community following a report of a shooting that they received at 5:35 pm on Thursday. Following a preliminary investigation, Elgin Sunny, age 33, was placed under arrest on charges of Attempted Murder and Misconduct Involving Weapons IV.

Sunny was transported to Bethel where he was remanded to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center. He was arraigned Friday morning in Bethel Court.

Tununak is a community of approximately 325 individuals on the northwest side of Nelson Island five miles from Toksook Bay.
