Two Injured in Tuesday Parks Highway Collision

The Parks Highway was closed for approximately an hour and a half after a two vehicle collision injured two on icy roads Tuesday.

Troopers received a report of a two car collision at 12:43 pm on Tuesday that occurred on the Parks Highway near Margin Way.

When troopers arrived at the scene and conducted their investigation of the accident, they found that 62-year-old Willow resident Margaret Christenson was traveling southbound in her Jeep when she encountered ice on the road. “As she was fishtailing, her rear driver side was hit by a Land Rover,” troopers report.

Christenson, and the driver of the Land Rover, 64-year-old Houston resident Kenneth Ross, both sustained injuries in the collision. First Responders transported both drivers to the Mat-Su Regional Hospital. Christenson suffered was are believed to be minor injuries, Ross’s injuries are believed to be more serious.

Troopers say that they believe the icy conditions were a factor in the accident, their investigation is continuing.

The Parks Highway was re-opened at 2:12 pm.
