A Wasilla man was arrested and charged with Assault III, Assault IV, Misconduct Involving Weapons IV, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Mischief IV after an altercation with his girlfriend and a subsequent incident with his RV Park neighbors.
It was during the early morning hours of Saturday, at 1:16 am, that troopers responded to the scene at the Alaska Trails RV Park in Wasilla to investigate an assault-in-progress call.
The trooper investigation at the RV park determined that 26-year-old Wasilla resident William Kelly got into an altercation with his girlfriend at the park, then afterwards, fled into the woods with a firearm.
Neighbors at the park attempted to help Kelly by offering him assistance after the incident. The only response they got from Kelly was verbal threats and a single gunshot heard in the woods.
It didn’t take troopers long to locate Kelly in the woods and place him under arrest for two counts of Assault in the Third Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree with Domestic Violence, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree with Domestic Violence, Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Fourth Degree, and two counts of Reckless Endangerment.
Kelly was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded on the charges with no bail set.
