It was early on Sunday morning that Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 1998 Chevy Pickup near the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and the Parks Highway for equipment violations and came into contact with 30-year-old Richard Campos.
When troopers stopped the vehicle, Campos fled the vehicle on foot, eluding the trooper.
A short time later, with the assistance of Wasilla Police, Campos was found and arrested ending his flight.
Campos has an extensive court history with approximately 75 cases on file.
In one of the most recent cases, in which he faced charges of Assault in the Spring of this year, Campos failed to appear for his arraignment and a warrant was issued for his arrest. After his arrest, Campos was arraigned on that charge, but would again fail to appear for trial call in August. Another warrant was issued for his arrest and he would be again arrested in October. But, in October, Campos made good his escape from custody.
During that same time frame, Campos would be charged with theft but would fail to appear in that case as well as another case in which he was charged with Driving without a License.
Campos next court date is December 12th for trial call on the driving charge and the Assault charge. Campos is currently in custody.
