Wasilla Troopers Arrest Mother on Unrelated Charges after Accident

A Wasilla woman was arrested following an investigation at the scene of a single vehicle accident at North Charley Drive and Tango Drive on Sunday afternoon.

Troopers responded to the scene where a 2006 Chevy Equinox was driven off of the road by 24-year-old Angela Nelson with a four-month-old child in the vehicle.

Troopers determined that the accident was caused by failure to exercise due care.

Nelson reported to troopers that she, as well as her baby, were properly restrained in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The vehicle suffered approximately $6,000 worth of damages.

A background check of Nelson would find that she had an arrest warrant issued in her name for the original charges of Felony Theft and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Nelson also received a citation for  Failure to Exercise Due Care to Avoid Collision.

Nelson was arrested and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was remanded and her bail set at $5,000 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.

The four-month-old child was released to a designated person.
