On Sunday, at approximately 7:25 pm, a two-vehicle collision was reported to the Alaska State Troopers near mile 90 of the Parks Highway, according to the Trooper Dispatch.

Palmer Patrol Troopers, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, as well as Bureau of Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
The investigation at the scene found that Talkeetna Post Trooper Kevin Blanchette was making a U-turn on the highway to respond to a REDDI report, when he was struck by a pickup driven by 20-year-old Talkeetna resident Michael Stevenson.
The trooper vehicle was totaled in the collision. Stevenson’s pickup also sustained significant damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The occupants of both vehicles, Stevenson and Blanchette were transported to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The Bureau of Highway Patrol took over the investigation of the accident and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
