On 8/31/17 at 7:26 p.m., Dispatch received a report of shots fired between two vehicles with possible injuries in the 9400 block of Brayton Drive.
 
When officers arrived, they found three vehicles, a white 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser and a green 2000 Chevrolet Silverado in the back area of a trailer court with a group of people on scene. No one was shot. The white truck was damaged by gunfire and reported stolen.
 
The preliminary investigation found the group were driving in two vehicles looking for stolen vehicles to recover. When they spotted the white truck, the PT Cruiser began to follow the truck. Eventually, it turned into a chase at high rates of speed and at close range. One of the occupants of the PT Cruiser or green truck called 911 to report the stolen vehicle. Dispatch gave commands to stop following the vehicle due to the public safety threat. The commands were ignored. Witnesses at a children’s soccer game along Academy Road, reported seeing the high speed chase in which there were several adults and children near the road to watch the game. They reported seeing the vehicles turn onto Brayton Drive going the wrong way. The vehicles eventually came to a stop in the 9400 block of Brayton Drive. As the occupants of the white truck exited and ran off, one turned around and shot at the other vehicle. The second vehicle, a green 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, arrived at the scene a short time later.
 
The driver of the PT Cruiser, Floyd Hall (52-years-old), was given a citation for Reckless Driving due to the traffic violations and safety risks.
 
The driver of the green truck was not involved in the chase.
 
The occupants of the white truck fled prior to officers arriving at the scene.
 
Our officers have a 90% recovery rate for stolen vehicles.

Our officers have the required training and skills to handle these calls and our number one goal is to keep the public and our officers safe.
